For as long as I can remember I have hated wearing ponytails. I hated the way they made my face look and the creases that hair elastics left in my hair. No matter how many kinds of hair ties I tried, I could never find something I liked. I would very reluctantly wear ponytails to the gym, because I needed a way to keep my hair out of my face, but I really couldn’t be caught in one at any other place or occasion.
A few weeks ago, I was scrolling on Pinterest and saw a picture of a cute half up/half down hairstyle with a really cute bow. I clicked on the description and found that the bow clip was called a banana clip. I immediately went to Amazon and bought different styles and sizes of banana clips. Since then I have absolutely fallen in love. In the past week, I have worn a ponytail for four days, when I wasn’t going to the gym.
Banana clips hold your hair looser than an elastic, so your hair is not as flat against your head. Not only does that remove a lot of the tension being put on your hair, I think it makes the hair look prettier. In addition, banana clips do not leave creases in your hair when you take them out, so you don’t have to worry about ruining your blow out when you tie back your hair.
Banana clips are very similar to claw clips, but they are sleeker and more comfortable. Banana clips are smaller than claw clips and lack the claw mechanism, so they are more comfortable when you lay your head against something. I wore my banana clip while I slept on a flight from Paris, for five hours, and I felt no discomfort.
If you are interested in banana clips, I recommend trying some cheaper options to decide if they are the right hair accessory for you. My favorite of the clips that I bought from Amazon are this bow clip and this two pack from the brand Kitsch. My absolute favorite banana clip is this style from the French brand Alexandre. This clip is definitely on the pricier side, but it is the highest quality clip I have found and holds my hair better than any other brand.

Your advice is totally on point. I have a small head and tight hair ties plastered my hair down and didn’t look good. I needed a little “puff”! I will definitely try these banana clips.
