I’m writing from a lounge chair in Cannes because I just discovered the start of what I think is a hot new trend. I was going about my usual online browsing when I came across a new release from Alice and Olivia. I’m a big fan of the brand, but this new item sent me into shock. I was quite literally speechless looking at this amazing pair of jeans.

The new Beautiful Wide Leg Jean in the Sunday Dreaming print is truly a sight to behold. The jeans feature a collage of renaissance artwork printed on the fabric. I’ve never seen anything like them before but I am sure I will be seeing more jeans like this in the future. I’m calling it now: Alice and Olivia is starting the next big denim trend.

Of course, we have been seeing a shift to bolder jeans over the past couple of seasons, but nothing like this. The bold jeans we’ve been seeing are mostly in bright colors or patterns. Those jeans were fun and cool, but they weren’t master works of art. The only thing that I can describe the Sunday Dreaming jeans as is a master work of art. The quality of the printing is outstanding and the blending of the different paintings is seamless. I’m truly blown away by this design. 

If this truly is the turn that bold jeans are making, I think it is fabulous. The shift is coming just in time for fall and winter, which I think speaks to the rich nature of the design. A pair of bright orange jeans is great in the summer, but in the  winter the bold jean look is harder to pull off. If the Summer Dreaming jeans cause a shift in the trend, it will be possible to embrace the bold jean trend while staying true to the color schemes typically linked with the winter season. I am really hoping that the trend of printed artwork jeans catches on because I am already in love with them.
